Can Etodolac-500 Be Taken After Taking Atenolol-100?

Question: I take atenonol for anxiety during public speaking. I took 100mg early this morning around 5am. Can I take 500mg of etodolac safely? I read that there can be negative interactions between these two medications. the major one was that it causes the atenonol to not work but I do not take it for high blood pressure so it doesn't really matter if it doesn't work right this second since I'm not doing any presentations.

Brief Answer:
you can take etodolac with atenolol safely

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

Your concern is right on your part.Etodolac can compromise ability of atenolol of reducing blood pressure and that is also on long term use. In your case you are taking atenolol occasionally when needed for anxiety and not for hypertension.

So no need to worry if you want to take etodolac for your knee pain.Atenolol should also work for anxiety in this case also.Etodolac will not compromise that effect of atenolol on anxiety.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
