Question: I am on oxycodone for osteomyelitis of lower spine. I was on tramadol for fibromyalgia. One dr told they would compete with each other for receptor sites. Is this accurate?

Brief Answer:
They compete

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear User ! Thank you for posting your question here .

Yes both drugs oxycodone and tramadol has a similar mechanism of action : Both bind with the same opioid receptor .
Means that they compite with each other for the receptor sites in result they have the same effect ( narcotic/opioid drugs ).
Is very dangerous toTake both in the same time cause of the interaction.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further clarifications I will be happy to help. If not you can closse the discussion.

Take Care !
