Posted on Thu, 20 Oct 2016
Question: I am a 38 year old healthy male. I swim and i play soccer. I remember when i was younger and had instructed swimming a coach used to tell us that swimming especially breast stroke combined with soccer is really bad for the knees. Is this medically valid? Should somebody avoid this combination?

Brief Answer:
This is certainly not medical!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

All body movements are okay and there is no combination that is bad. I even had to ask my physical therapist if this and it made for a good laugh. There is no need avoiding any such combination. Continue with exercises as much as needed and all will be fine. Keep me posted if you get any problems or difficulties with this.

Thanks and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Until next, I wish you well and keep being very physically active.
