Are Metallic Taste In The Mouth And Ear Pain Due To Chronic Sinusitis?

default
Posted on Fri, 8 Sep 2017
Question: hello I am a 50 year old Caucasian lady who has a 5 year history of stomach and e n t problems. Chronic sinusitis was diagnosed and I am allergic to dairy wheat and gluten. I usually try to self manage my health and do not take medication all the time apart form propanalol which I was recently put on for palpitations and cetrazine for hayfever.
Over the last week I have had a terrible taste in my mouth and throat develop, feels partly metallic, strong and cloying. Very unpleasant and now it is there allthe time. I can feel my sinus are painful at the moment, I often have pains in my ears and sometimes eyes too,
Th only other medical change has been having dental implants and a bridge fitted in the last 6 months, saw the dentist yesterday and he x rayed the area and said it looked fine. I have a small sore area on my upper outh and a small lump there and below my right ear which are monitored every 6 months.
I don't smoke and drink moderately. Do yoga and dance.
Id really appreciate help in whether I need to see my doctor and if these symptoms are linked to sinus, something else? and how to manage them
Thanks so much.XXXX

Brief Answer:
Chronic sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
All the symptoms pertain to sinusitis. Even the ear symptoms are due to eustachian tube blockage caused by nasal congestion.
My advice is you should get a x-ray paranasal sinuses done and get yourself examined by an ENT SPECIALIST.
For Throat problems, take tablet vitamin c once daily and hexidine gargles daily.
Drink plenty of water.
