Will Taking 8 Mg Of Klonopin Safe?

I have been prescriped klonopin for over a year now, I started at 0.5mg but was upped to 1mg about 6 months ago. I take 1mg every night to go to sleep, sometimes more of my sleeping problems continue. I also sometimes take a few throughout the day when I have panic attacks. I have just taken 8mg and was wondering if this was a safe amount to ingest?

Hi Klonopin (clonazepam) is a benzodiazepine. The class can cause tolerance that means you require higher doses as the day preogresses.
Klonopin dose per day should not exceed 4mg if used for both sleep and panic attacks. I would have suggested my patient to limit the dose to 4mg per day. I would also suggest cognitive behavioural therapy for panic attacks that may also help in sleeeping problems.
Hope the information helps. Thanks.
