Hello,

Thank you for contacting me at "Ask a Doctor". I will try to answer your question to the best of my ability.

It sounds as though you might have what we call prepatellar bursitis. This is due to pressure on the area such as prolonged kneeling.

Apply some ice to the area and take simple pain medicine such as ibuprofen or Tylenol. Avoid kneeling, for the moment.

When you go back to kneeling make sure that you wear kneepads.

I hope this information is useful for you. Please do not hesitate to message us back if you have any further questions.

Best wishes,
