What Could Be The Reason For Swelling Above My Scar After An Hysterectomy?

Hi my name is Trish, I am 61 and an active person. I had a Hyserectomy four weeks today. Although I am active and as difficult as it is, I am being really good and taking care of myself. I do however like to walk and have gradually built up to going a bit further every day. My tummy and pubic mound has been and still is very sore! Yesterday, just above my scar I seemed to swell up more and was very sensitive. I also have noticed that it is redish around that area. Last night the area was very hot! I am going to my doctors tomorrow and will mention this but wondered what might it be please?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about your surgery and the symptoms you have reported. Fro the information you have provided, I am concerned that the swelling, pains, and reddish nature could represent a possible infection of the skin around this area. You would need to meet your doctor and get this checked out for appropriate managemet. Depending on the findings, you may need simply antibiotics and some pain medications. If it is collected, then you may benefit from surgical drainage.

I hope you find this helpful. Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for clarifications if need be. I wish you the best of health.

Welcome to HCM.
Redness, hot indicates development of infective inflammation.
There might be development of infection under the scar.
Sometime mild redness, pain may remain for 1 to 2 months due to cut injury to the nerve endings.
Take B12,folic acid and other supplements.
Take nsaid with serratiopeptidase.
Proper antibiotic is needed under guidance of your treating gynecologist.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
