What Causes Pain And Itching Around The Nipple?

I have an itch on the bottom side of my right rib cage. Located about 2 inches under nipple. I also have pain there as well. Level 4 pain. I m currently taking medication for a lung abscess in my right upper lobe. Is this pain from inflammation? Is this something else? Has the infection spread? Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

Itching under the breast is likely due to Candida infection of the skin, which is a yeast infection

-Keep the area clean and dry
-Wear loose fitting breathable undergarments
-Apply Lotrimin antifungal ointment for 2 weeks on the affected area.

If the itching do not seem to improve at all in 5-6 days, follow up with your primary care provider.

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
