Uterus Lining Thickened, Into Menopause, Had Normal Periods When On HRT. Any Chances Of Cancer ?

I am 48 years old and had a ultrasound on my uterus this week. Today the Dr. called and said I have a thickened lining and will need to follow up with a biopsy. I recently went into menopause and she said she would not want me to bleed or spot anymore. Well I recently stated a very low dose of HRT, the lowest possible and then had what seemed like a normal period. Acting and lasting like normal. I hadn't had a period for about 5 months prior to that. She didn't tell me how thick my lining is, but reading on the internet I see that, my news is alarming. Just how alarmed should I be? I am all of a sudden kinda scared and at first just felt like It would just be that I had a period due to the HRT. What are the chances that it is cancer?

Hi and welcome to Healthcare magic.Thank you for the query.
This is alarming but chances of cancer are low. Most common causes od thickening is benign such as hyperplasia or polyps and this is commonly seen in perimenopausal women. But you need to rule out the worst of course. Also HRT can cause similar things and you should maybe change dosage.
Wish you good health. Regards
