my husband and i have been trying for a baby for a little over a month but its hard because i have very irregular periods. over last few days ive had very strong cramps and today i had slightly bloody, mucusy vaginal discharge . not sure if its just period (never had something like this before with it though) or implantation

It will depend on when was your last menstrual period. If you are close to your last period and are due for your periods, yes, it could be implantation bleeding. It could also be the beginning of your period. Wait a few days and the picture should be clear. You will either have no more bleeding in the next few days, in which case, do a pregnncy test. Or, you may start your periods in a proper flow.

Though these type of symptoms can be seen in pregnancy, we cannot confirm the pregnancy just by symptoms.
As you are having irregular periods it is difficult to guess the time of ovulation.
So you better go for pregnancy test once.
If the test comes negative, consult gynecologist and undergo ultrasound to find out the possible cause for your irregular periods and take treatment accordingly.
