Taking Acetazolomide For Intracranial Hypertension. Sore Knees, Edema In Optic Nerve. Permanent Damage?

I'm currently taking 750mg's of acetazolomide daily for intracranial hypertension. The edema in my optic nerve has almost subsided thanks to an LP and the medication.
I've been on this medication for 6 months now. The last 3, my knees have become so progressively sore while sitting, standing, kicking or squatting that it is unbearable. I can't sit or get up without holding something.
I believe it is the medication.

Is this permanent damage? Should I be taking a supplement to ease this?

Hi!

I read carefully your concern and would like to say that this is one of the common side effect of diamox (acetazolamide).

You should see imediately your doctor to discus the use and continuation of the pill.

Hope it answered to your inquiry!
Dr.Benard

p.s. if you have other concern, do not hesitate to write back to me!
