Taken Arimidex And Ememestane For Joint And Muscle Pain. History Of Breast Cancer. Options?
I wason the arimidex for 3 months and had terrible pain in my joints and muscles and it seemed to be progressing. My encologist put me on ememestane 25 mg and in 10 days I felt so bad and my blood pressure was 200/114 thought I was going to have a stroke. I have been off of it for 7 days and am feeling much better. I had invasive ductal carcinoma - partial breast removed and 23 lymph node removed - sentinal lymph node had a few cancer cells but the others did not. I don't think I can take the estrogen blockers because they make me feel so bad. I didn't feel that bad when I was on chemo. What other options do I have and what would the percentage be if I didn't take the estrogen blockers for 5 years. I can't live feeling the way I did on that medicine. I think I'd rather take my chances and feel half way normal.

The treatment is actually very appropriate. The clinical picture you present however to me deserves a more in depth look and approach. The opinion of a rheumatologist should be considered at some point in time. Knowing the exact cause of the joint pain minimize unnecessary expenditure and waste of time.

Hello.In women with breast cancer is essential, in most cases, taking a drug to regulate estrogen levels.The two most commonly used groups are called aromatase inhibitors and regulators estrogenic receptor.
You have taken two differents aromatase inhibitors -exemestane and anastrozole-but you have had significant adverse effects.
Letrozole is too a drug of the same group that may be indicated in your case.
Another option may be to take a regulator estrogenic receptor, tamoxifen for example, but bone pain is one of its common side effects.
You must go to your oncologist, he will decide, but, surely, it is imperative to take a drug to regulate estrogen levels.
