Swelling And Bruise Like Lump On Nose After Hitting. Have A Deviated Septum With Possible Sinus Infection
Almost 8 months ago I had hit my nose on a slamming screen door causing it to swell a little bit, no blood or anything, and swelling went away a week or so later. 6 or 7 months later I started to form a bruise-like lump on the bridge of my nose. It looks like a knot on my nose. I went to the local ENT and he said I had a deviated septum and possible sinus infection. Do either of these have to do with the lump on my nose? He also said I have developed an allergy to dairy products if that is the case.
Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your doctor, I would have advised you for an MRI of skull with special reference to the nasal bones and the paranasal sinuses. Further management would depend on the report. In the mean while, I would advise you for some over the counter available anti inflammatory drug, and some steam inhalation which would give you some relief of your nasal problems. Simple allergy is not much likely to cause a bruise like swelling on the nose.
I hope this information should help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in solving this problem. Thanks for using the healthcare magic forum for your health query. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
