Hello
thank you for your query.
Irregular periods definitely need to be investigated.
your doctor has correctly prescribed the necessary tests to you.
Reasons for irregular periods could be - stress, anxiety, rapid weight gain or rapid weight loss, emotional trauma, frequent travelling, thyroid hormone imbalance, polycystic ovaries, endometrial lesions etc.
You need to have the relevant blood tests done.
i do not understand how doing the tests will harm you.
And you cannot be afraid of medication - it will only help you.
Follow professional medical advice, and not what your ' friend ' tells you.
Backache could be because of pre menstrual symptoms, or calcium and vitamin D deficiency.

Take care.

OB & GYN Specialist Dr. Dr. Soumen Patra's  Response
hello,

There are several reasons of delayed period besides ovarian cyst (as your USG normal) like hormonal imbalance, stress/anxiety, thyroid problem, wt gain/ extreme loss, irregular eating habits, psychological factor etc.

Need to investigate properly to rule out underlying pathology by other test like thyroid profile, blood LH/FSH and estrogen/ progesterone level, blood sugar & prolactin level etc. So consult with your gynecologist and undergo for above mentioned tests & take suggestive measures accordingly. You may need one psychological counseling regarding this.

You take healthy diet with carotene based food stuff & iron supplements, complete avoidance of salty/ spicy/ junk foods, drink plenty of water/ juice, do regular light exercise to control body wt, avoid stress/ tension by regular deep breathing and take always sound sleep. These are all stimulating factor to get period in time.

Be well & take care.
