Sore Throat, Pain While Swallowing Increased After Sneezing. Suggested MRI. Thoughts?

Hi, I have had a sore throat for around 10 weeks now. It only hurts when I swallow, to begin with saliva but now when I drink and eat. I have been to the Dr a couple of times firstly I got antibiotics as it was thought I had a throat infection after a cold but that did not work. I went back and got referred to a specialist who put a camera down my throat and could not see anything wrong, it was just a bit red. He has referred me for a MRI scan. Before the cold and beginning of the sore throat when I sneezed and swallowed after it my throat was really painful but would only last for a minute or so. I mentioned this to the Dr but I think it has been over looked as I think this is the cause. Will an MRI show up any damage that a sneeze may have caused? I have read online that several other people have had the exact same problem after sneezing. Could this be the problem and how long will it take to heal. I sneezed the other day which activated it which again to me points to the source of the problem. Any information would be a help. Thanks.

A pain throat which increased after the damage caused by sneezing is an unlikely scenario. Please use dilute hexidine gargles 3-4 times a day and do take antihistaminic for few days for sneezing. A local application of Mandle's paint may also be helpful, so also will be steam inhalation. Do take Omeprazole for few days along with. An MRI is likely to give any information only in case your doctor has suspected some finding on throat or neck examination.
