Pregnant. Stomach Pressure, Swollen Feet. Should I Induce Labor Early?

hi. ok I am 37 weeks and 2 days along in my pregnancy. I am absolutely miserable from the constant pressure in my stomach to my feet swelling up from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. I have tried putting my feet up every chance I get and I have tried soaking my feet massaging my feet these special socks my doctor recommended and nothing seems to work. I have had problems with swelling since I was about 27 weeks. I am miserable and my doctor refuses to induce me until I am 39 weeks and I really cant deal with this too much longer. I have had a totally normal pregnancy no complications or worries should I ask other doctors at the hospital and maybe switch?

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

Unless there is an indication to deliver you sooner (such as a concern about preeclampsia) then you should NOT be delivered before 39 0/7 weeks. Elective inductions, in general, are associated with an increased risk of problems such as Cesarean Sections. In fact, if your pregnancy remains uncomplicated, the first indication for inducing you is reaching 41 0/7 weeks.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
