Pain In Right Shoulder And Chest

I have had this pain in the right side of my upper back/shoulder and chest for almost a year now. At first it would only be sometimes. Now its at least once everyday. The pain wakes me up every morning about the sametime. It also starts hurting if i run or do fast paced activities. Other times it jus starts hurting. It lasts about 1hr to an 1-1/2hrs . With over the counter pain reliever it goes away within 15-30 mins. I also get a pain in my right arm and my hand and arm become cold.

i think you need a physical examination, since its a chronic case , it would best to consult a doctor.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Dr. Praveen Tayal's  Response
Hello.

Thanks for writing to us.

Your symptoms are most likely suggestive of a frozen shoulder. You need to get your blood glucose levels assessed as diabetes is commonly associated with a frozen shoulder. You need to have a good muscle relaxant like thiocolchicoside after consulting with your orthopedician. Hot fomrntation will help in relieving pain.

I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.

Regards,

Dr. Praveen Tayal

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello.Welcome.Have you visited a doctor and got it investigated? Don't take pain killers so often as they cause liver and kidney damage on prolonged use.More over your problem looks to be musculo skeletal as it goes away by taking pain killers and you don't have any associated cardiac symptoms and that too for more than one year. But still consult a physician and get it diagnosed and treated.Good luck.
