Is It Normal To Have A Bump At The Back Of The Head After A Fall?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...my two year old has not long fell and bumped the back of his head outside. He has a slight scrape and a little bump. I gave him calpol and applied an ice pack for 15 mins. He seemed fine apart from crying but has fell asleep on me. Is this ok?

Hi,

Just wake him up after 30 minutes- then watch for sever headache, vomiting or drowsiness in coming 24 hours- if any these features comes, take him to doctor without delay, as these indicates head injury.

This is unlikely if the fall was not from height.If no such features, just continue calpol for 2-3 days if needed, and apply some antibiotics(mupirocin/povidone iodine) over the abrasion.
