The common causes of vaginal lumps are infections of the bartholins glands that are located in the labia, sebaceous cysts of the labial hair follicles, cysts of vagina and bartholins glands. All of them produces lumps that are freely movable and may be painful in some cases. Sometimes excessive rubbing and scratching leads to inflammation and the area becomes thick due to the inflammation producing the feeling of a lump. Trauma can also cause blood to collect in the vaginal and labial skin and produce lumps. The best thing is to get it examined by a doctor and then treatment can be directed depending upon the cause.
