Welcome to HCM, Some of the ways to regain your health and thus lower your GGT, an indicator of compromised health is to lower as many risk factors as possible. If you were my patient I would start with education on a low fat, high fiber, alcohol free diet. If your heart is healthy enough, begin exercising at least 150 minutes per week.
Research has shown coffee to help reduce these levels and possibly glutathione supplementation. In addition, lowering the consumption of red meat might also help your system heal. Do not take supplements with iron if you can avoid so.
These suggestions should help you normalize GGT levels. Best wishes to you for a long and healthy life. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
