Over the past week, I am having throbbing pain right beneath my right breast, inside my ribs. It comes and goes. It doesn t feel bad, but doesn t feel normal either. I am Asian female age 44, 5 2 , 130 lbs, healthy, non-smoker, not under any medication. Only issue is I am border line high cholesterol. Is this something serious?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- A chest X ray study
- Complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- A resting ECG

If the pain is triggered by body movements or deep breathing, it could be just local muscle inflammation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
