How Many Days Does It Take For A Bartholin's Cyst To Reduce In Size?

HI doctor, i am suffering from a batholin cyst after a month ago, whereby i did my mastupialization surgery. My gynae has created a hole for my cyst to drain out the absess, but until today, the swell is still big even i have been squeezing the absess out everyday, 2-3 times after my shower and sitz bath. Usually batholin cyst swell will take how many days to subside? i have been taking oral antibiotics which prescribe and also applying fucidin acid tropical cream. by the way, what is the different beween fucidin acid and fucidic acid? can i apply tea tree oil onto the swell? thanks :)

I am so sorry to hear about this bartholin's cyst. If you are still squeezing out pus, them the procedure must have failed. the main idea with marsupialisation is to lay the cyst open so that new tissue grows and obliterates the cavity. You may need to have this procedure repeated. I will suggest that you return for evaluation and further management. it generally takes less than 2weeks for complete healing and talking of this a month after with abscess collection is simply not right.
