My husband had an emergency op for a perforated appendix last Frid aft. Came home yesterday with 2 lots antibiotics for 5 days and painkillers as needed. Also Buscopan - 2 tabs x3 times daily but did not say how long to take that for. Can you advise if it is for 5 days also or longer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You can take the antibiotics for five days. In case of any pain, pain killers can be continued for 3 to 4 days. After the tablet course, you can consult your surgeon for a review and a general check up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
