Had Unprotected Sex After The Nuvaring Insertion. Chances Of Pregnancy?
Hi, I am a Nuva Ring user. I took the last one out on Feb 13, but forgot to insert a new one until evening of Feb 23 (I inserted it on the evening of Feb 23). This morning (March 2) I had sex with my partner and unfortunately a condom broke. So technically the current nuva ring had not been inserted 7 days (12-14 hours short for that). Should I get a Plan B to minimize possibility of pregnancy?
Hi,
As you missed your usual timing of the insertion this month, you may not be as safe. So, it is advisable to take additional precautions. For the ring to work efficiently (it is 99% efficient), you have to insert it exactly as advised, one week after removal. If you take the emergency pill, remember that you may get a breakthrough during the cycle as well as a disturbance of the cycle next time; also emergency pill is better reserved to be used only once or twice during a year. See your doctor for further advice. Take care.
