Fever, Weakness, Breathing Problems. Diagnosed As Pulumonary Tb. Taking Akurit Tablets, Not Getting Better. Suggestions?
Hi , My mom is diagonsed with Pulmonary TB and she has been given Akurit-4 tablet twice a day ( before breakfast in morning and before dinner). She is just 28 kgs and its been three weeks she has taken medicine. Her fever has gradually reduced but she feels very weak and since few days she is facing breathing problems even after starting the treatment. Can you tell me if its a symptom of TB Medicine or this is something unusual.
Patients on treatment for tuberculosis should be monitored by the doctor at least once a month for monitoring the signs of drug toxicity (eg : liver disease).
Liver disease can cause tiredness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dark-colored urine, jaundice, abdominal pain. It is important to stop the medication immediately if any of these side effects are encountered and inform the doctor.
It is important to have regular (monthly) follow up with your doctor for eye check up, blood tests like liver function tests. As they can managed appropriately with regular follow up.
It is also important to see that the drug is responding and the disease is not worsening . Breathlessness should be managed properly and nutrition is the corner stone for the success of the treatment.
Thank you for the consultation in health care magic.
