Fell On Guard Rail, Got Knee Hurt, Swelling, Pain. What Do You Think Is Wrong With It?

Hey 4 days ago I was stepping up a guard rail and my foot slipped causing me to fall full force on the bottom right hand side of my left knee. There was swelling from impact but no worrisome pain and it was gone by the next day. Yesterday it was also fine until I went to lacrosse practice and there was mild pain. After practice was over the pain got much worse and this morning it is moderately swollen and hurts pretty bad when I bend it. Putting weight on it doesn't really affect it and it does not hurt much to the touch. What do you think is wrong with it?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in the knee associated with swelling and pain is due to an injury to the internal structures of the knee joint or a soft tissue injury. Using a knee brace, hot fomentation, mild pain killers and rest will help.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
