Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,The are certain causes of increase in refractive error frequently like keratoconus, cataract, glaucoma, allergic conjunctivitis, wrong glass prescription. You have not mentioned your vision with your glass power. If you have a family history of glaucoma then a glaucoma work up is required.Keratoconus a disease of cornea and can be ruled out by doing a topography. If you have frequent habit of rubbing your eyes with watering and irritation then you may be suffering from allergic conjunctivitis.Sometimes you may have a wrong glass prescription and you don't realize you are under corrected when you go for recheck up after 1 year.Looking at your present scenario I would advise you to do only a corneal topography to rule out keratoconus if you don't have any family of glaucoma or allergy in eyes.Show to your nearest ophthalmologist who can do a slit lamp examination to rule out early cataract which is very rare at this age unless you are on any systemic medications or steroids. To read in front of computer you really don't have to need the glasses as the power which you have is for distant vision correction. If your computer is not having an antiglare then make an antiglare glass.Have a healthy diet as no literature shows any specific diet helps in decreasing eye power of patients....Have a safe eyes and don't worry....Regards....Dr Ajay Shankar Kar...Cornea Consultant,Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital ,Visakhapatnam.
