Discomfort in chest and back, increased heart beat. What is it and possible cure?

Last night I woke up with a slight discomfort in my chest, felt it in my back too... I think I paniced and my heart started to race then felt light headed, hand started to feel a little numb as well as my jaw... Did I have a panic attack? The rapid heart beat happened once I started to over think the slight chest discomfort.

Hello, and welcome to HCM!

Chest pain is always taken seriously by doctors, because it can represent a heart attack. However, many other things can cause it too, like coronary artery disease, acid reflux, anxiety, sore muscles, cracked ribs, etc.

Since the pain you had seems to have been very brief and mild, it is most likely not a heart attack. But you absolutely need to be evaluated by a doctor very soon, who will very likely do an EKG and possibly other testing.

I wish you good health, and thank you for posting on HCM!
