Diagnosed With Breast Thrush. Stopped Breastfeeding. Using Clotrimazole. Red Ring Around Areola And Itchy.

i was diagnosed with breast thrush as was my 3 month old baby. i have stopped breast feeding now and have been using clotrimazole for nearly 2 weeks but have seen no improvement. there is a red ring around both areola (one worse than the other) and the skin just constantly flakes and peels off. it's also incredibly itchy. i don't know what to do because there hasnt been any improvement and i'm concerned it's not actually thrush

Oncologist, Surgical 's  Response
Dear Ma'am,

Sorry to hear about your problem. It is good that you are regular with your treatment for thrush but if it is not responding to treatment for two weeks, you need to get it evaluated by a breast surgeon. One needs to rule out an underlying lump or problem, which can lead to such a condition. It can be just resistant thrush infection, which will require additional medicines but it is still important that an underlying lump is ruled out.

Hoping for the best.
