Child Has Swollen Forehead After Injury, Tummy Ache, Vomiting. Given Gravol. Related Incidents?
My 3 year old son was running at daycare and hit a wall, sustaining a large goose egg on his forehead . That was 2 days ago. Yesterday he complained of a tummy ache and then vomitted three times. I gave him a children s Gravol. I just woke this morning and wondered if the two incidents are related? He is currently with his father. Should I be concerned about a concussion?
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
The swelling is due to formation of hematoma in scalp layers above the skull bones.
Because of concussion there may be vomitings after the head injury.
These two incidents looking like related.
Observe for persistent vomitings, drowsiness, abnormal behavior, fits, decreased limb movements, and if you find any abnormality , report to emergency immediately.
If the child is active and no abnormal symptoms and signs, nothing to worry, but consult your Pediatrician for examination.
Hope I have answered your query.
Hello dear.
Thanks for writing to us.
Ya this must be a reason for concern.
Vomiting after head injury may indicate that there is a bleed in brain.
Please get a ct of his brain done.
This is important even if he doesnt get vomiting again as some times a concealed blood collection might cause symptoms at a later stage.
Thank you
