Child Has Swollen Bump Under Skin On Base Of Scalp. Should I Worry?

My 7 year old daughter had a scab and sore on the base of her skull/scalp. 2 days later now she has a pretty swollen bump under the skin that feels like a lymph node. Is there cause for concern. I called our nurse practitioner yesterday and she says if it becomes more sore or larger to bring her in. I just felt it and it seems bigger and she reports more tenderness with palpation.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
It seems that your daughter is having some infection in the scalp giving rise to enlarge lymph node.
Rule out bacterial infection or fungal infection or dandruff on the scalp.
She may require one course of antibiotic treatment and some local application of anti-fungal, antibiotic cream.
Keep scalp clean and dry.
Ok and bye.
