Child Has No Hair Roots On Head And Eyebrow. Slow Hair Growth. Black Dots On Arms And Legs. Fungal Infection?

I am anxious abut my daughter Fabiha’s hair growth problem. She is now 02 years old. There were no hair roots on her head and eyebrow when she was born. Doctors diagnosed as fungal infection with anti-fungal medicines. And after 06 months treatment, now her hair roots are appeared along with black dots. But still the hair growth level is very slow. On the other body parts i.e. shoulders, arms and legs is also same with black dots. Is this fungal infection or any other genetically problem? Please help for this regard

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

If I am correct then you mention that your daughter did not have hair from birth. However you also mention that the doctor diagnosed it as fungal infection. It is very surprising to see fungal infection of the skin/hair immediately on birth. Unless I am able to look at the picture it is difficult to comment on the cause on the black dots which you are mentioning.

Genetic conditions are known where there are no or sparse hair growth. It is better to consult the treating doctor who will be in a better position to guide you.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Regards,

RKK
