Can Shingles Lead To Eye Problem?

I HAVE HAD SHINGLES IN MY HEAD, NECK AND LEFT SHOULDER AREA FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS. I WAS ON MEDICATION FOR SEVEN DAYS AND ON PAIN MEDS ALSO. I STOPPED THE PAIN MEDS AFTER TWO AND ONE-HALF WEEKS BECAUSE THE PAIN WAS TOLERABLE AND THE SORES APPEARED TO BE DRYING UP. I WENT TO AN OPTHAMOLOGIST THIS MORNING BECAUSE I HAD PAIN IN MY LEFT EYE FOR TWO AND ONE-HALF DAYS. I WAS PRESCRIBED 5 SUS DEXASPORIN OPTH. IS THIS APPROPRIATE FOR AN EYE PROBLEM THAT THE DOCTOR SAID WAS RELATEDTO THE SHINGLES?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having shingles. Shingles is caused by herpes zoster virus. It usually involves skin.
It can involve the eye in the form of keratitis, scleritis, optic neuritis....
Since you are prescribed with steroids most probably you are having immune related problem.
Hence I advice you to continue treatment asadvised your doctor.

Thank you
