Hello,

Shingles is an infection that sleeps in the nerves and there is no treatment to eradicate it. Probably it is due to treatments that you get for SLE that shingles is so recurrent in your case.

The only measure is to start oral antiviral treatment when you get the episodes. Sometimes they also give oral antiviral in low doses for a long time to prevent the recurrences or to reduce their frequency.
Thus, at the moment you will need full treatment with valacyclovir and then later daily small doses to prevent recurrences.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
