Can Vicodin Be Taken During Pregnancy For Chronic Migraine?

Hello! I have chronic migraines every since I was a teenager. I have always used Vicodin 7.5/300mg for the pain. I usually take 1-2 per day. I am now 17 weeks pregnant and I feel like my head is going to explode. I don't know if I can take Vicodin or not. I have try Tylenol with codeine but that doesn't work. Pls let me know if is safe for me and the baby to take Vicodin and how should I take it. Thank You

Hi,

Thank you so much for trusting us with your health query.

I am so sorry to hear about these migraines. Vicodin is only used in pregnancy when there is clearly no other safer drug and the benefits far outmatch the risk. Though direct teratogenic effects have not be reported in humans, it cannot be ruled out also. It is a class C classified drug according to the food and drug administration. I will suggest that you talk with your doctor to propose other safer options. If there should be none, then he may consider using this as a last result.

I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for more information if need. Thanks.
