1. Since complications of cirrhosis of liver are there like:
portal hypertension,
esophageal varices thus you are into decompensated stage of cirrhosis of liver, where one has to look for features of hepato cellular failure mainly
hepatic encephalopathy, HE [watch for altered sensorium, personality changes, irritable behaviour].
PS. since hepato cellular function is the best predictor of bleeding from varices, thus check with Liver function tests [LFT] to rule out
hepatic failure.
2. check regularly with
bilirubin values,
serum albumin, alkaline phosphate level along with tests for
Hepatitis B,C.
3. take salt free protein rich diet, but if ammonia level increases or there are signs of HE, then protein diet has to be stopped.
4. since bleeding tendency is/are there I won't recommend any alternate system of medicine since it is a life threatening medical emergency.
5. You might search for Good Ayurveda Hospitals near you, but your attending Doctor must be informed about any alternate treatment.
PS. For symptomatic management through Ayurveda you may contact on my link: bit.ly/drmunishsood which won't stop the progress of disease but will alleviate your symptoms to an extent.
. In good-risk patients with variceal bleeding undergoing portal decompression, surgical shunt is more effective, more durable, and less costly than angiographic shunt (transjugular intrahepatic portasystemic shunt [TIPS].
