Allergic To Certain Steroids. Which Drops Can Be Used Post Cataract Surgery?
Hello, I am allergic to certain steroids but not all. I am getting ready to have cataract surgery and want to know which drops I can use post surgery. I'm allergic to Class B & D-2 steroids and need to know which of the following are options for me: Predforte, Tobradex, FML or Letemax. Thank you! Mary
Hello Following cataract surgery the drugs required are steroid eye drops, antibiotic eye drops, non steroidal anti-inflammatory eye drops. Steroid eye drops are required to be used for 4-6 weeks in tapering dosage. Of the four options you have given, predforte and tobradex can be used. Predforte being more potent is required in cases of moderate to severe post operative inflammation, routienly tobradex which contains tobramycin as a antibiotic and dexamethasone as steroid is sufficent.
Thank you
