9 day old daughter was exposed to MRSA in the NICU My 9 day old daughter was exposed to MRSA in the NICU should i be concerned. She was isolated from the others and her first culture has been returned negative.

You need not be concerned if her culture reports are negative. Nowadays antibiotics like vancomycin and other higher antibiotics are available which are effective against MRSA bacteria. Also remember that newborns may be exposed to many other germs once they are discharged from nicu especially from touching with unclean hands by family members or practise adequate hand washing before feeding or handling a newborn.

we are all exposed to MRSA at some point in our lives but as your NICU has come back clear i would not worry for more info go to
