8 Weeks Pregnant. Elevated Thyroid Level. Prescribed Thyronorm. Will This Affect Baby S Brain Development?

Hi! My wife is 8 weeks pregnant and her thyroid level is 5.48. Please tell me what is normal range as doctor has advised her to have thyronorm 25mg. She doesn't want to have because she's not well the whole day followed by severe vomiting and giddiness as she is a working women. If she doesn't have thyronorm will if affect babies brain development. Please suggest.

Normal range is between 0.4- 4 miu/L. However, exact value varies between different labs. So, see your wife's lab report or ask her doctor.
Normal value of thyroid hormone is extremely important for normal brain development of the growing baby. Thyroid replacement therapy will not increase nausea or vomiting.
However, it is better to check free T3 & free T4 levels in pregnant women. These are more sensitive markers & give us the real picture of the need of treatment.
