18 Months Old Suffering From Persistent Dry Cough

Hi Doc, My 18 month old kid is having dry cough since last 5 days. The cough only occurs at night time and it lasts for about 30-45 seconds. Its persistent. We are giving him ashthalin exp. He has no wheezing problem. We also put vicks on his chest and his feet and cover with socks every night. During day time we give him warm water with honey and few drops of lime. Any home remedies for quick relief. Please advise. Rakesh

hi,

1st its very unfortunate that you are giving Astaline EXPETORANT as EXPETORANT is not recomandate in this age group. Not only that Asthaline=(salbutamol) syrup also useless in this age(before 6 month)as bronchioles are not developed. The most DANGEROUS part of your self treatment is giving HONEY as this is the most common causes of ASPIRATION PNEUMONIA in this country.

Please do not try to treat your baby yourself,it may affect your baby.

thanks.

He might have viral infection.Give cough syrup as you are giving asthalin sy.
