What Causes Vertigo And Dizziness While On Omnipaque?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Feb 2017
Question: I recently had a testicle removed due to cancer, it didnt spread and all is good. This week I had a CT and Omnipaque was used, I had to drink it and got an I. I had no initial issues but 24hrs later the room spins when I get up or when I move positions laying down. Also my hands and feet are super cold but that started tight after the OP two weeks ago. Thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Thyroid gland dysfunction to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Vertigo and dizziness may be related to omnipaque use as possible side effects and it should subside in few days.

If there is no improvement after a week or two, inner ear dysfunction conditions should be considered. ( benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, Ménière's disease ).

Cold hands and feet after surgery may be related to anemia, thyroid gland dysfunction etc.

If coldness worsened after omnipaque use, thyroid gland dysfunction becomes a stronger possible condition.

Discuss with your Doctor about getting evaluated further about these conditions.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Kind regards.

Brief Answer:
Blood tests for thyroid and anemia.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Blood tests are necessary to evaluate anemia and thyroid gland function.

Anemia may be treated with iron and folate supplements.

If low thyroid gland function, synthetic hormone ( levothyroxine ) may be necessary.

Inner ear dysfunction is evaluated by an ENT Doctor.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you good health.
