What Causes Right Sided Hip Pain That Radiates To Lower Abdomen?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: I use to have pain on the right side of the hip area and then the pain use to penetrate till the lower abdominal. After showing to once doc. she asked to go for a urine check. (Attached the report).

She told I have been diagnosed as having mild Stone issue and she prescribed some ayurvedic medicine 1) Tamfil (Rx Tamsulosin + Diclofenac Sodium Capsules (2) Himalaya's Cystone Tablet.

After having these tablet some fluid comes out with little blood (like we use to have in periods). I use to have this problem once in a while when there use to be pain in the hip side, but now its frequent. Is there anything to worry? Should I consult a gynaecologist ?

Brief Answer:
possible ureteric calculus/ stone

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
It is likely that the typical symptom of pain from loin to groin may be indicative of a ureteric stone. This pain may be incruciating and severe and increases probably while urination.
There may be increased frequency of urination and accompanied urinary tract infection as well. As there was blood in urine, it indicates that there is either a cystitis or a calculi/stone in the urinary tract.
Ideally you should get a Xray KUB done to look for any stones and if required an IVP to delineate the actual position of the stone if detected on ultrasound.
Course of antibiotics for UTI is a must for next 10 days to reduce the infection and accompanied urine alkaliniser+ NSAIDS to allow reduction in pain and infection.
You need to visit a urologist soon.
