Question: I am planning to conceive. My age is 31yrs. I went to see doctor for a routine check up. The doctor advised few blood test, prolactin and a TVS. The doctor diagnosed cerivical erosion and polycyst in the TVS report. My Hemoglobin level is aorund 10, Prolcatin is 24.1 and TSH is 5.95 which doctor said that this is slightly raised. The doctor advised me to take following medicines 1. Fer pill-F-4 weeks

2. Fol XT- 4 weeks

3. Thyronorm 25mcg- 2 weeks

4. Capgolin- once a week -4 weeks
5. Inidil-C - 6 days

I am not sure whether the medicines are okay.

I also want to know about the problem of cerical erosion and polycyst. How much these can hinder the preganancy.

I want to know further measures and precautions I should take to conceive.

The doctor also asked the semen analysis of my husband. But that is not yet done.

I want to my clinical position whether I can plan to conceive.

Thank you doctor for the reply.

However I want to know the relevance of prolactin level in my blood. The level of prolactin -is it normal.

what about polycyst problem. Because my doctor didnt say much about polycyst so I am bit concerned.

How is polycyst cured and what problems it can create in conceiving.

Another question is once I start thyroid medicines, do I have to continue taking medicines? If Yes, how long should I take? Is there any side effects of those medicines.

What is importance of INIDIL-C and CAPGOLIN prescribed to me?

Brief Answer:
Continue thyroid medicines

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I know you will have many doubts in mind. Let me clear them :

1. Your prolactin level of 24 is normal and there is no need to worry. Cabgolin is given to treat high prolactin levels. Anyway it won't harm you if taken.

2. Please continue thyroid medicines till you get pregnant.

3. Imidil C is given as prophylaxis to treat any fungal infection if you have.

4. Polycystic ovary is normal phenomenon in many women and you can conceive normally even if you have Polycystic ovaries. It wont go away.

I hope your doubts are cleared.

Thank you very much Doctor for your reply to each of my queries.

I am married for last 5 months. I want to ask one more thing. Since few days (probably from last month) I am realizing that after every intercourse there is a minor bleeding (very minor bleed /spotting).

What does it indicate? Is it a sign of any complication? Do i need some treatment for that or the treatment which doctor has advised me now is sufficient as of now.

I also wanted to confirm do I need to repeat my test like TSH and prolactin from some other lab as there may be lab to lab variation in the levels.

Brief Answer:
Cervical erosion

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Bleeding during intercourse is likely to be due to cervical erosion which is being treated already. The medicines prescribed now are sufficient and are likely to heal it.

You can repeat prolactin and TSH and send me the report. No problem. It will confirm the diagnosis.
