Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Your body is making your thyroid gland hyperactive in order to improve the production of thyroxine so that you become faster to perform your duties. If the right side is swollen, you feel that you are not fast enough to do the duties. If the left side is hyper active, you feel that you could not eliminate or avoid some of your unwanted situations which you could have avoided. These cause an overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism. Because of the body’s enhanced metabolism, persons with an overactive thyroid are often overexcited, nervous, irritable, and have trouble sleeping. With persistent hyper activity, the growth created by the continuing cell augmentation forms a hard struma or goiter.

Following the resolution of the above type of mental conflicts, a major portion of thyroid cells are lost for time being, with some symptoms of healing like pain, swelling, difficulties breathing and swallowing, night seats etc. If the healing process is accompanied by an inflammation, this causes thyroiditis. With the completion of the healing phase the thyroxine level returns to normal. However, when healing is continually interrupted by above mentioned conflicts, prolonged decomposing process results in a loss of thyroid gland tissue causing a chronic under active thyroid, or hypothyroidism, with symptoms like fatigue and low energy, since the insufficient production of thyroxine slows down the body’s metabolism. In this case, supplementing thyroxine is sometimes advisable. Hypothyroidism is always preceded by hyperthyroidism.

In short, your Hypothyroidism is having its causation in the mental level and by resolving the conflicts, you can correct your thyroid activities and gradually drop the Thyronom that you are taking now. Continuously taking it for a prolonged period of time is not advisable.

With my long clinical experience in Homoeopathy, I can say that a constitutional remedy selected by an expert Homoeopathic Physician can minimize the period of imbalance of thyroid functions and bring faster recovery.

In no case I can agree with the method of medication that you are taking under the instruction of your family friend who is said to be a Homoeopath. It is not scientific or Homoeopathic .

You are advised to consult an expert Homoeopath at the earliest and he can cure your problems by studying you as an individual with your mental and physical genetic make up.

With Best wishes,
