Would Pneumonia Be The Reason For Congestion And Pain In Right Lung?

Pls Help - a few hours ago I choked on a piece of Clif Bar, I inhaled and swallowed at the same time and it went deep into my windpipe - I coughed and coughed but I don't think I coughed it all out...ever since then I have developed sinus congestion and a pain in my right lung. I am breathing ok, but am nervous about falling asleep - will I wake up, will it get worse, do I have pneumonia? Any info will be helpful, thank you in advance.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In your case, we need to rule out aspiration of foreign body (piece of cliff bar) into the lungs. This can cause chest congestion and aspiration pneumonitis.
You are having right sided chest pain so possibility of pneumonia is high.
So consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and Bronchoscopy.
Bronchoscopy is not only diagnostic but it will also take out the aspirated material (therapeutic) if present.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
