My mother had a stroke 2 yrs ago and has dementia. Agitation, anxiety, delusions, hallucinations, the works. Not sundowners, it is all day. She takes half a .5 mg Xanax in the AM and another half early afternoon. We don t give the whole .5 tablet because it makes her sleep too much and then doesn t sleep at night. At night she takes 1mg Ativan. She has been prescribed Seroquel to be given with night meds. Some articles say do not crush and some say it s okay. She has to take meds through peg tube. Is it okay to crush and give that way or not? And does Seroquel usually help with the problems she has?
