Will The Intake Of Oxycoton Makes Me Constipated?

I had reconstructive shoulder surgery on 12/31. I took hydrocodone for pain. It constipated me horribly and I stopped taking it two days after the surgery. With over the counter measures and some home remedies I am having bowel movements now. However, I am in awful pain from the surgery. My doctor gave me another prescription for Oxycoton. Is this going to make me just as constipated as the hydrocodone did?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Hydroocodone and oxycodone are opioid medications. Constipation is a known side effect of opioids. So you may get constipated with oxycodone also.
You can take the home remedies for constipation which worked for you earlier.
I hope that answers your question.
Regards,
Dr.Ratnakar
