Will Taking Senna Be Effective For "under Active Bowel" ?

Hi

my doctor has prescribed long term use of senna as I have an "under active bowel", I am supposed to take 2 daily but from all the reading i have done, long term use of senna will only make my bowel more lazy! Im only 32 and dont want to have major issues in the future.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, here, if the constipation is matter of concern then I would suggest that instead of taking any laxative or purgative try to relieve the constipation with conservative management, like drinking more water, eat rich fiber diet, keep the regular habit of defecation.
What ever laxative or purgative you take and it is being taken without any valid reason like no pathology is there that indicates the role of purgative, still you take the laxative or purgative then it is not advisable at all, and of course it may affect the peristalsis of guts.

hope this information helps.
