Will Skipped Heart Beat Damage The Heart?

I have "skipped" heart beats. Went to ER a year ago and then followed up with cardiologist who did echo
And EKG which were normal. Still having constant skipped beats all day and sometimes night.
Will this do damage to my heart? Tonight I feel a flutter that makes me want to cough.

Dear Madam /Sir
Thanks for your query to us.
Skipped beats are common in general population and by an estimate occur in every 2 or 3 individuals on a given day. If they are not causing any symptom, usually they are not treated. They are usually do not cause any damage to heart. Only if they are so much in excess that there number exceeds the number of normal beats and this phenomenon goes on for number of months, some damage to heart may occur, that too if they cause abnormally excessive average heart rate. But this would be a rare occurrence.
Try to remain stress free. Avoid tea/ coffee/ alcohol/ smoking.
sincerely
