Will Oxycodone, Zocor And Restoril Help Depression?

Hi, my mother is taking Oxycodone (halfing a 10mg at least 1 x daily), Phenegran, zanax, clonidine, restoril and zocor. I have seen a decline in her health, mentally and physically, since the oxycodone was introduced approx. 3-4 years ago. She is somewhat sensitive to drugs and I am very concerned as I watch her go further downhill. She has always been young for her age but now she never leaves her home except to go to the doctor. She is sick most of the time. Stays in pajamas. She has always struggled with depression and she has gotten much worse, but oddly enough not being treated for that. She has many of the symptoms that are possible side effects of the oxycodone. I am very concerned. She has used teh same docotr (internist) for about 20 years. He does not seem to be the docotor he was the first 7 - 10 years that she was seeing him. Do you have any advice?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Oxycodone is opioid derivative and if she has been taking it for last 3 years, that means she has become dependent upon it. In her case, whenever she try to leave oxycodone, she would feel withdrawal. She also needs a antidepressant to overcome from depression. In her prescription, there is no antidepressant. Get her consulted from a psychiatrist to stop oxycodone and start antidepressant therapy.
